The early club trend continues as a Belfast-based event makes its way to Dublin.
In recent months we’ve seen the success of Annie Mac’s Before Midnight showing the way for early clubbing nights – designed for parents and those who don’t want to be out until the early hours.
After Eight in Pawn Shop is the latest Dublin monthly event. Seeking to capture some of that same desire, on a more general mainstream scale is the new “night” coming to The Academy.
The 30+ Club is a daytime nightclub experience happening from 5pm to 9pm on June 22nd in The Academy in Dublin for the first time.
It was born out of an idea that has proved to be hugely successful in Belfast with the organisers saying they have already sold 10,000 tickets to their events in the Limelight in Belfast, with sold out nights and waiting lists active til most of their events till the end of the year.
The 30+ Club says it’s aimed at “early risers”, and “for those who’ve ‘still got it’” who want to go clubbing. The club offers two rooms, one playing 90s and 2000s R&B, pop and dance, with a second room seemingly aimed at an older crowd playing 70s and 80s with rock and indie classics.
“We have been blown away by the incredible response to these events and we simply can’t keep up with the demand – every Belfast date is sold out until Christmas. We’re seeing a really broad range of people coming to us, from those who want to party but still parent the next day, to hen parties, right through to older people that haven’t been to a club in 20 years and want to re-live the magic of their youth.”

While you might think that calling a club night by its age demographic is a bit naff as I do (let the music dictate the crowd age I say – but I would say that as I’m putting on an Indie Sleaze night next week), there’s no doubting there is a real desire for early club nights now.
It’s probably not for the music-lovers who wouldn’t be seen dead at such events, who have a defined and discerning taste who still go to see DJs they like and can identify genres they love, rather than a catch all Coppers-style playlist. But the trend of early club nights is a surprising but very understandable development.
The organisers says The 30s+ Club is “a perfect team activity” and offer “discount for birthday groups, work parties, hens, stags or a big girls night out.”
Admission is strictly 30s+ with ID required (!) and tickets for Dublin go on sale on Friday morning if you’re so inclined from the30plus.club.
