Grunge-fuelled indie outfit Havvk have announced their third album To Fall Asleep alongside their fervent new single ‘City Creep’, out now.
The Dublin-based alt-rockers won’t release the new record until March 2024 but gave a sneak peek with the catchy single about the impact of the housing crisis on cultural spaces in Dublin.
Reminiscent of Sprints, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Dream Wife, the track captures the energy of the group’s stellar live performances.
The lyrics of the song hone in on the disconnect between the decision-makers behind changes to spaces and the actual cultural and community needs of the people who live here, with a chorus that opens with the line: “You hear the city creep, wake up or we’re never going to talk about it.”
Every year we’re seeing more spaces shutting down due to costs or because another soulless hotel or commercial space is set to be built.
Decisions influenced by greed and a total lack of understanding of what makes our communities vibrant and special.

Since moving back to Ireland after fostering music communities in Berlin and London, the three-piece has discovered a new, unabashed confidence.
Their 2021 album Levelling was a shoegaze wonder, carefully crafted and with a slowly crescendoing drama to it.
Loud Women dubbed the record “a stunningly beautiful piece of work” and a “must-buy,” while the Irish Independent praised Hawk as an “indie punk alt goddess.”
Renowned for their riotous stage presence, Havvk has toured extensively throughout the UK, Ireland, and Germany, including their ‘Drawn Together’ project, a 12-date UK tour that saw them team up with over 50 female and non-binary artists including Menstrual Cramps, Medicine Cabinet and Scrounge, in 2019 to promote equality in music.
Havvk have sold out shows in Londonʼs Seabright Arms and Berlinʼs Schokoladen and Loophole, and have supported the likes of And So I Watch You From Afar and The Drums.
The band have also made notable appearances at The Great Escape, Liverpool Soundcity, and Ireland Music Week, as well as a TV performance on Other Voices.
Now, the trio have landed on their feet in Dublin and brought the international music community of the VETA Collective to Irish shores.
With a growing network of fans and collaborators (including Pixie Cut Rhythm Orchestra, in which Hawk plays bass), the band is ready to make some noise.
