Adrianne Lenker
Once A Bunch
Big Thief keep moving forward, and their singer and chief songwriter Adrianne Lenker is no different, as they shared ‘Once a Bunch’, a song recorded during the recent album Bright Future sessions, a track that appeared on the Japanese CD version of the album.
It’s an intimately-recorded country folk beaut.
Kelly Lee Owens
Sunshine
‘Sunshine’ is the second track from KLO’s forthcoming album Dreamstate, after the song ‘Love You Got’ last month coinciding with news of the album on George Daniel’s new label, dh2, out Friday October 18th.
The Welsh producer does this kind of arpeggio-lead mostly instrumental jam really well, as heard on the 2020 album Inner Song, and ‘Sunshine’ takes things in a brighter dance pop direction.
Kelly has also announced details of her forthcoming UK and European tour including a Dublin gig at Button Factory on Monday November 4th and Belfast’s Limelight on November 6th.
George Clanton, TV Girl
Summer 2000 Baby
Baggy revivalist George Clanton teams up with indie-pop trio TV Girl on a Primal Scream ‘Loaded’ soundalike, and I can’t get mad at it. They also released ‘Take A Trip’.
Clanton plays Dublin this Saturday and TV Girl are in the 3Arena next week.
Thee UFO
Glowing Friends
The Dublin garage-psych rock band Thee UFO (Unique Freaks) put out a four-track collection of new jams to followup the fine 2024 album that I fully recommend you spend time with – Beaming A Moments Reflection.
Silverbacks
Something I Know
Silverbacks have announced their third album Easy Being A Winner, out on Friday 18th October through Central Tones/Cargo, and new single /video for ‘Something I Know’.
‘Something I Know’ is the latest track from the Irish indie-rock six-piece’s forthcoming album which references My Bloody Valentine, Guided By Voices and Stereolab as influences, after the recent, most excellent ‘Selling Shovels’, and the video for the Emma Hanlon-sung track, features dance choreography from an Indonesian troupe.
And So I Watch You From Afar
Mother Belfast Pt. 2
The Belfast post-rock band’s seventh record Megafauna is out today, and billed as a love letter to the two places they call home – seaside town Portrush and Belfast city.
‘Mother Belfast Pt. 2’ is the second part of a diptych of songs, both similar but contrasting, and both suggesting that the band haven’t exhausted their particular well yet.
Big Wett
She Got That Thing (CC:Disco remix)
The explicit electro pop provocateur from Oz is remixed by fellow Australian with sandblasted electronic 12″ remix vibes.
jarjarjr
Last Call
In June, Cork producer and rapper jarjarjr put out the first single ‘Sense The Beer Bought’ from his forthcoming album Catch The Dusk (new release date September 20th).
‘Last Call’ is a confident jazzy track with, brasss, talkbox and ’80s funk synths that glide under Rob O’Halloran’s vocals.
The animated video is by Brownsauce.
System Olympia, P Nut
Shy Shy
And speaking of funk, System Olympia’s latest, a collab with UK rapper P Nut is a retro synth-funk glider. It’s not the pair’s first rodeo.
System Olympia is on a roll lately.
Weval
Remember
Dutch duo Weval are putting out some Night Versions a la Soulwax this October featuring self-made dancefloor remixes of tracks from their 2023 album Dreaming, and I keep coming back to this one.
