Ruairi Lynch aka Bantum is back with a new song featuring fellow Cork musician vocalist and singer-songwriter Jack O’Rourke.
‘Take Cover’ is a song which melds orchestral disco sounds, ’70s rock, electronica and O’Rourke’s Bryan Ferry-esque vocal to kaleiodscopic effect.
The song was inspired by ‘Next Day’ era David Bowie, Roisin Murphy, Metronomy, and Stardust, and the artwork (and visuals to come) are by Dublin-based artist Barry Gibbons (who has done artwork for The Bonk).
Bantum’s most recent song from 2021 had a French Touch influence, and previously, the Cork electronic artist released a joint EP with Loah.
Jack O’Rourke has most recently played alongside Jenny Greene and contributed to a tribute to John Prine at Vicar Street, and has released a number of once-off singles since his 2021 album Wild Place.
“Having known each other for years, working together on ‘Take Cover’ has been an incredibly enriching experience. We wanted to create something that combines our unique musical perspectives and reflects our shared love for artists such as David Bowie, Donna Summer and Roisin Murphy. ‘Take Cover’ represents a departure from our previous work and we’re already thinking about what ideas we can work on next”
